Uncle Bill gave us directions to add Crooked Creek to our ride today. What a gem! Very, very cool! The rest of the day was riding eastward from Prineville on route 26 towards John Day, OR. The ride was great, especially with the tailwind. With the addition of Crooked Creek, we couldn’t get to John Day so we called it a day in Dayville at the Fish House Inn where we ate sandwiches and drank margs on the lawn. We met a couple who told us they had their wedding reception at the Looney Bean in Bend. Yes, it was where Brent from Mammoth’s Looney Bean ended up. It’s a small world! Diane credits Brent with helping 101 Great Escapes expand beyond Timber Ridge Resort. He kindly let her put a lockbox outside just next to the front door of “The Bean”. That was in 1997. 101 Great Escapes has grown a lot since then and are now located in the Vons Shopping Center next to the Minaret Theatre ticket window inside the mall. But the old Looney Bean is a fond memory for us.
