Another hot and humid day! We continued east on Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. We made it to St. Ignace (a small drinking town with a fishing problem) and decided over a cold beer to avoid the touristy Mackinaw Island. We headed southwest hugging the eastern coastline of Lake Michigan. We heard this area was pretty cool and it didn’t disappoint. We landed in Harbor Springs, the Hampton’s of Lake Michigan. Enormous colonial houses flanked each other along the entire coastline. We felt so out of place without our Izod shirts. None the less, we found a nice room and had a wonderful dinner.

Yes, It was simply dreamy

This area is known for their Pasties. After looking at signs declairing “World Famous Pasties” I kept wondering if they had special tassels or glitter. I finally stopped and discovered this is a Pasty. No stripper poles needed
-
We finally started to see the beaches. It was 90 degrees and humid as hell and we just wanted to get wet
-
Wait! Didn’t we see this on day 1? Actually this is the bridge over the Straits of Mackinac where Lake Michigan and Lake Huron meet.
-
Your history lesson for the day.

This looks familiar. Another cycling event through Michigan.
-
Now we’re headed south along the east side of Lake Michigan. Very cool!
-
The trees created a canopy so it felt like a tunnel for miles.
-
The homes along the lake all had areas on the water to enjoy the views

We stopped in Harbor Springs and started talking to fellow mariners. It just made me start missing Happy Ending
