After waiting out the traffic and rain over July 4th weekend, we are finally moving eastward on the bikes. We say goodbye to Fargo, but not to the incredibly genuine nice people. We rode back past Detroit Lakes and headed into the Heartland of Minnesota. The license plates in Minnesota read “Land of 10,000 lakes”. We learned there are actually over 14,000 lakes, but I guess that number does not sound as interesting. After another long day cycling, we got to the Heartland B&B in Dorset, MN only to discover that the owner of the inn had accidentally double booked the room. She could not have been more mortified about the error and offered to pay for a room that night in a neighboring town called Nevus. We stayed there at the Park Street Inn. After a quick shower, we headed back to Dorset. It is a town of 26 people, 5 good restaurants, and a 4 year old mayor. We ate at Campaneros Mexican restaurant (so awesome and authentic), where they allowed us control of the TV so we could watch The Tour de France for the first time in a week.
