We left Cody, WY and headed east towards Sheridan, WY. along the Bighorn National Forest. Looking at the day’s attitude profile, we knew we were in for a lot of climbing. Why oh why is there always a headwind no matter which direction we ride? This route was suggested to us by a Harley rider from Texas that we met at a brewery in Jackson, WY. Motorcyclists and road cyclists enjoy the same type of roads: smooth, no traffic and filled with hills and turns. Diane claimed that the 8+ mile climb today was the hardest hill she has ever climbed. She said the last 2 miles of the 8 mile climb required all first gear, first chain ring standing up even with the huge headwind because there was no other way to pedal through it. Steep hills and a nasty headwind will change your progress dramatically. Another day of spectacular scenery. We couldn’t make it to Sheridan, so we stayed in Burgess junction for the night, a very popular place for ATVs and Harleys.
