Another great ride east, wind at our back, and virtually no traffic on the roads. We had several climbs but nothing like those in the Sierra. Diane inadvertently stole my 7 mile decent after a good climb so I returned the favor by parking at the summit of her climb. That will teach her! We met several cyclists, with their heavy panniers, moving slowly across the country. It kind of seemed cruel, after talking to them while we ride, to suddenly accelerate to speeds they’ll never see. So nice to be riding 15 lb carbon fiber road bikes.
We made it to Bakers City, Or, where we shacked up at the swanky Geiser Grand Hotel equipped with numerous crystal chandeliers ( my favorite ). We opted to eat at Barley Browns Brewery (sorry Robert) instead of the very nice restaurant they had in the hotel.
